Sad News for Model Train Fans

My husband collects LGB model trains... Today comes the sad news that Allen Drucker, owner of Allied Model Trains of Los Angeles, has sold the business after 32 years.

Allied Trains has been in existence since 1946 and will continue under new ownership at a new location across the street from its current address. The current building is a mini replica of L.A.'s Union Station.

Thanks for this news. My father had a small miniature R/R set up in the back of our garage when I was growing up. He put a lot of time and money into it. At some point he sold the whole thing to a young man. Wish he hadn't.

I think I am going to have to take a trip there tomorrow while I am on Easter vacation. Not only would I like to see what they have, I want to see that building. I spent one year of my life near there in 1966/67 when I went to the Culver City Bible School (no longer in existance). Perhaps I'll drive by that location too.

I went to Disneyland yesterday and put up a report with pictures on MiceChat under Disneyland Resort. Look for title "Spring Break Trip 4-10" by Wendygirl which is currently on page 2.

What a great idea to go up there, Irene. Especially if you can combine that with a trip down memory lane. :) The male members of my family have enjoyed their visits to Allied...I hope the new owners take good care of the store. Too bad about losing that neat location.

Thanks for the tip on your Disney trip! I've got to go get a little work done and will visit MiceChat later tonight!

Best wishes,
Laura
