And Then There's This Thought...

Red State rumors that some Democrats are pushing for Dick Durbin to replace Harry Reid as the ranking Democrat Senator.

Jim Geraghty is also hearing the chatter.

As Red State points out, this could mean that the future leader of the Senate Democrats is a man who called United States troops Nazis on the floor of the Senate.

Some days the world sure seems mixed up and crazy...at least in Washington.

I agree with Dick!!

The article you linked says:
"... this week comparing the treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to victims of Nazis, Soviet gulags and Cambodia's Khmer Rouge."

In fact, this makes me like Dick more. He is making a bold comparison that is correct.

We should be above torture. We are better than that--or so I thought.

Asserting that it is correct to compare the U.S. and the U.S. military to the Nazis, who gassed 6 million people, completely undermines anyone's credibility or ability to rationally discuss U.S. policy vis-a-vis terrorists. This eliminates any starting place of common thought from which it is possible to discuss agreements or disagreements.

Best wishes, Laura
