Another Attempt to Erase Religion From the Public Square

The city of Las Cruces, New Mexico, is facing a lawsuit seeking to remove crosses from the city logo. This has apparently been an ongoing issue in Las Cruces over the last couple of years, with the school district also being a target of legal wrangling.

A similar situation has occurred here in Southern California, where a threatened lawsuit led to a new Los Angeles County seal on which Pomona, the Goddess of Agriculture, is considered an acceptable symbol, but a cross symbolizing our state's mission heritage is not.

It sure is sad. Some groups aren't going to be happy until they've wiped out crosses on every public property across the country. These groups claim to be upholding the Constitution, but I think the Founding Fathers would be shocked.

Too lazy to look it up so I am going to take a wide guess: does Las Cruces mean "the crosses?"

Uh, I just read the article and found out that I was right. Duh, I guess I should not be so lazy and just go ahead and read the article next time instead of asking dumb questions. But I was right! :)

(Grin!) Pretty sad when they want to pretend the town's name has nothing to do with crosses, huh?

Next thing you know they'll want to start changing city names, like Corpus Christi and Sacramento, Santa Barbara, Santa Paula, San Diego, and El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora La Reina de los Angeles (aka Los Angeles).
